::..:. Long Way Round .:..::

Even though I'd read about it several times, I'd nearly forgotten to check out Long Way Round . I watched an episode earlier tonight and am really hoping Bravo will rerun them all--what a fabulous show! Ewan and Charley were in Kazakhstan in this episode, a country I've always been really curious about, namely because no one ever talks about it, and I like countries that people totally ignore. Looks like a really cool place between all the natural beauty (canyons, mountains, badlands, prairie tundra and steppes) and the fascinating native cultures. There's just something incredibly charming about decaying, former Soviet republics who are trying to get theor shit together and make a good life now. And just for the record, Kazakhstan, you rule. Sheep's head and all.
Next episode is Mongolia!!! I love Mongolia, too. I really enjoyed the short-lived NBC series Lost, that happened to strand teams just outside of Ulaan Baatar in episode 1. There were a lot of old Lenin statues and rusty factories and stuff. The Trans-Siberian railroad looked like a lot of fun! Maybe someday I'll have the money and time to visit these places, but for now I'll be sated by Long Way Round.
